Carmen Uwaila Ibie was born on January 29,1972,on a beautiful sunny afternoon in the boisterous town of Surulere in Lagos state, Nigeria, to her dear parents the renowned Late Dr. Cromwell O. Ibie of the Edo Kingdom and his beautiful wife, HRH the Late Mrs. Ekpoawan Lilian Ibie of the Efik Dynasty, Calabar Kingdom.
From birth, Carmen’s parents always knew that she was a special child, as she displayed from an early age, qualities of love, philanthropy, Kindness, compassion as well as showcasing a deep resentment for any form of injustice and oppression to others.
It was no surprise that after Carmen completed her first degree in Zoology from the Ambrose Alli University (then known as Bendel state university) and a masters degree in IT from the University of East London in the United Kingdom, Carmen went on to obtain a Masters degree in Social work from Middlesex University, UK to enable her pursue her passion of helping others and being an advocate for the vulnerable and otherwise depraved in the society.
Her natural empathy blossomed into a lifelong commitment to social service and ministry, and for over 20 years, Carmen has dedicated her time to social work, supporting children and families who would otherwise have been disenfranchised due to trauma, family dysfunctionality and exposure to other societal ills.
Carmen is also a safeguarding champion, and she has worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and welfare of those at risk, advocating for their rights and creating spaces where they can thrive. She is also a UNICEF volunteer to ensure that children around the world are safe and in good health.
